Gala Dali Castle in Púbol
The Castle of Pubol was a gift from Dali to his beloved wife, Gala. The building is a medieval gem from the 14th century once owned by the town’s barony and restored by Dali into a very surreal and special place. Dali fell in love with it and bought the property in 1969. Throughout restoration, the artist transformed the place into a Dalinian creation by putting his own personal touch with the goal of providing Gala with a quiet and secluded place. He remodeled the building completely, opening up new spaces and creating romantic and surreal corners that are true art pieces. The result is a mysterious place, at once somber and charming, with moments of great beauty. The castle became Salvador Dalí’s last studio and finally the mausoleum of his wife and muse, Gala.
